Sri Lanka is a South Asian country and Somebody known as Ceylon. The country is one of the Democratic Socialist Republic countries in the world. In Sri Lanka, you will experience Beautiful nature, rare animals, rich traditional culture, and delicious foods. Over 3,000 elephants are live on the island. You will see elephants in the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. If I will say it's a "Green Island", I think I'm right. I can't prevent talking about the food culture in Sri Lanka. I experienced some foods like "KiriBath", "Kokis", "Kottu", "Wade".Definitely, It's a different experience. There are unique traditions and more than 70% are Buddhism. Every full moon day, they said "Poya" and the day is a public holiday. On this day they will go to temples and worship budda. They make tea, coconut, rubber, cinnamon and Sri Lanka is the birthplace of cinnamon. They have brands like Ceylon tea, Ceylon cinnamon. I think you get some introduction about Sri Lanka.

Now I start to say about the marvelous place Sigiriya. It's a World Heritage site by UNESCO. Sri Lankans think It's Ravana's place and he was lived here. However, It is the 8th wonder of the world. This is actually a big rock about 660 feet in height. At the top, you will see a flat surface. In the top area, there are have oldest monuments. A lot of monuments are made of red brick. If you will go in there you can see how marvelous here. Archeologists aren't complete the explore the site. The mystery is how they built it. Over 3 million bricks on top of the rock. How they bring bricks to the top? It's mysterious. There aren't natural stairs to go top of the rock. The still stair made by last century. It's a very scary trip. There are white marble stones. The stones have been imported from other countries. The problem is how they transport to the top area and how they hike. Another special thing is wall arts. There are have half-naked women's arts. Before 1500 years how they do it. It's impossible. And the largest bath tank is very important. The bath tank has been created by cutting stones from the stone surface. Archeologists say over 3,500 tons of stones were removed from there. Another mystery is the tank never completely dry any day and they say it is Ravana's swimming pool. However, the lion rock gives evidence for Sri Blanken's ancient technology.

Travel Recommendations

If you came from Katunayaka International Airport, first you will find a taxi to come Colombo-Kandy main road. After you can get a bus to Dambulla. It takes less than 6 hours. The normal bus ticket 1200LKR(6 USD). The transportation is the cheapest. Therefore don't worry about it. Next, you will can to go Sigiriya from Dambulla city by taxi. I think it's the very cheapest and efficient way to travel to Sigiriya. If you are a healthy person the trip get two hours to get to the top of the rock.
